For quite some time I have been aware that Olive Street Baptist Church here in Rogers has a "Community Meal" (Soup Kitchen) on Fridays from 11:00-12:30; Well, having had reports of good stuff there, I finally drove into town early enough to check it out today.
Not bad, a generous bowl of Chili (Obviously homemade), a selection of Fresh Fruit (I went with the mixed fruit bowl, mostly grapes, as opposed to half a banana) and a side of corn bread. There was a really nice looking assortment of baked goods on offer for desert.
I saw some familiar faces from other community meals, one of the volunteers said they normally serve 100 to 120.
LOTS of volunteers serving, only one guy beavering away at the dishwasher.
Someday I will write about the ecology of Volunteers.
